y combining a variety of musical influences Pyro, Ohio has created a sound that is both refreshing and modern while challenging themselves and their audience with every song they write. Branching out from the post-hardcore genre and experimenting with non-standard song structures, the band seeks to write profound songs that hinge on the edge of progressive styling while also remaining accessible to listeners. The band is most commonly compared to A Day to Remember, Chiodos, Circa Survive, A Skylit Drive, and Glassjaw.
With the release of their first EP in January of 2012 entitled Welcome to Pyro, Ohio, the band displayed a taste of their songwriting spectrum that delivers a musical diversity that everyone should find a piece to enjoy. Vocalist Peter Verity’s lyrics explore the reoccurring disagreements that tear relationships apart, while the band uses pounding rhythms and reoccurring melodies to create a foreboding atmosphere to assist Peter’s message.
In July 2012, the band was chosen to play on Vans Warped Tour as part of the Ernie Ball Battle of the Bands competition. They were a part of an online voting competition and received over 13,000 votes which placed them at second place for the venue. In addition to number of votes, the winning bands were also chosen based on their creativity, musicianship, and song writing abilities. They were chosen by a panel of record label representatives such as Warner Bros & Maverick Records as well as the founder of the music festival, Kevin Lyman.
The band announced in December 2012 that they had signed with At Your Command Records and would be releasing their label debut Before the Sun Sets… on March 5th, 2013. Their second EP received critical acclaim worldwide leading up to its release. Before the Sun Sets… demonstrates the band’s range of writing ability each dynamic and differing song. The band jumps seamlessly from relentless and riff-heavy to thoughtful and emotional songs and back while still holding onto their unique sound. The band pushes their boundaries by tapping into their post-hardcore and progressive roots, creating unforgettable tracks while also portraying the message of each song with clarity and vision. Guest vocals from Alex Mola (ex-From Atlantis, InVogue Records) pull the title track together and aid in bringing out the heaviest part of the album.
In June 2013, the band released their first music video for “Priorities Lose Company” to widespread praise. The band is scheduled to tour along the east coast for the remainder of 2013 in support of Before the Sun Sets…
