WHO?
THE VARUKERS
Formed in 1979 by enigmatic frontman Rat, Leamington Spa streetpunk band The Varukers are often argued to be one of the pioneers of D-beat, a sub-genre of punk that was inspired by the heavy and fast Motörhead-infused UK82 band, Discharge.

DEAD ARMS
Formed in 2011, London garage punk fourpiece Dead Arms are as noisy as a swan that's just discovered pornography. Imagine the Jesus Lizard being buggered by the Butthole Surfers, while 80s punks Fang were being double-teamed by Black Flag in the room next door ('Nervous Breakdown' EP era, with Keith Morris on vocals), all while listening to Pissed Jeans and Minor Threat. The band released their debut album 'All The Hits' on Rip This Joint Records in February 2015.

With the release of his new single "Stef Step Away", Geeztown brings a new feel to a classic genre. Lush with piano hooks, catchy breaks, and addicting vocal melodies, the song reaches into an almost 90's alternative rock aesthetic. The song builds as it plays on with harmonies, and intensity and keeps to its message through and through. Most importantly, "Stef Step Away" never loses sight of the emotional platform great songs are built from.
"It’s about a girl named Stef. I cared a lot about her. I felt like we were on the same path, both pursuing music in one way or another. I’m a Christian, and I found out she used to go to my church. But I saw her making some bad decisions and allowing the people around her to influence her in a negative way. So the song is me telling her to step away from those bad decisions and that there is still hope, it’s not too late." explains songwriter Aaron Giese.
"Stef Step Away" is the first release from an upcoming album and although it speaks volumes for the record, to get the full understanding of where Geeztown is coming from, it should be heard in its entirety.
"I would say this is just the first single, but I think it’s a good introduction. It lets people know a lot about me, the kind of heart I have, musically some of the main elements I’m into, and it represents a major theme of my life over the last year or so. This single is the story telling song of the album. The other songs will be more focused on rhythm and hooks and possibly another inspirational song." says Aaron of the upcoming album.
Being a producer for a number of years, Aaron has spent plenty of time working on projects for other artists and bands and had always wanted to get Geeztown off the ground. Focusing so much on creating something successful for other artists, helped him hone his craft and gave him the ability to finally launch the project he's been waiting for. Deciding to want for himself what he has done for other bands is why Geeztown was born.
Having written theme songs for television shows, becoming a voting member of The Recording academy, and having produced songs that have charted on College radio, Aaron has worked in various styles and genres of music all together.
As the songwriter puts it, "I went through a lot of phases before I got the sound I have now. It was going to be punk rock, industrial, r&b, post hardcore, synth pop, and I tried collaborating with someone that took it in a bit of an indie direction too for a little while. The style I’ve found now is a combination of the best, most common themes in my songwriting."
Aaron is now in the process of putting a full band together for the Geeztown project in order to play live shows in full, and is currently working on the upcoming album from which "Stef Step Away" is a part of.
